  1. Dr. Paul Zarda; a Well-Experienced Professional with Many Awards to His Name

  2. Awards and Honors Dr. Paul Zarda is a well-experienced professional with many awards to hisname. Some of his accomplishments include: • Graduate Citation for Outstanding Achievement, Columbia University (1971) • Bronze Key Award for overall excellence at Columbia University (1970) • UCF’s MMAE Pi-Tau Sigma 2011 Teacher-of-the-Year award • Recipient of cash awards by Lockheed Martin for the publication of technical papers (1988 and 1989)

  3. Inventor of The Zarda-Top-Spin-Racquet, Or The Z-TSR Dr. Paul Zarda is also the inventor of a tennis racquet called the Zarda-Top-Spin-Racquet, or the Z-TSR. It has been designed in such a way that it provides top-spin to the ball using a completely different system compared to other racquets on the market. The concept of this racquet design was to increase ball rebound spin and to increase the accuracy of a tennis’s ball trajectory. He also wanted to design a racquet that could minimize the motion of the strings relative to each other, thereby increasing string life and performance.

  4. Career Highlights After receiving his Ph.D. degree in Engineering Mechanics from Columbia University in the year 1974, Dr. Paul Zarda served as an Assistant Professor in Engineering Science at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. for two years (1974-1976). From 1976 through 1978, he was a research analyst at the David Taylor Naval Research and Development Center. Here, he worked in the area of finite element modeling of acoustical fluid/structure interaction problems. In 1978, Dr. Zarda joined Westinghouse as a Senior Engineer in the design and analysis of nuclear steam generators.

  5. Current Position: Manager at Engineering Methods Group, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Dr. Paul Zarda joined Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in 1980 as a Manager. Within Lockheed Martin, he is responsible for helping provide direct support of the engineering community in different areas, including mechanical design and analysis, systems engineering and optical design.
