  2. Create a Brilliant Social Media Experience using CRAP Social Media is predominantly a visual platform, and the player with the most visually riveting material has an advantage over the others. Design therefore plays a critical and yet invisible role in making a business even considered to be a "brand." Design typically refers to a method / set of rules that allow a creative stand-out post after post, resulting in a potential cohesive brand experience. Alternatively, we can see how these concepts are applied to the overall picture.

  3. Create a Brilliant Social Media Experience using CRAP • Principles of Design : • Contrast • Repetition • Alignment • Proportion • Most of the above terms work well across different disciplines. Let’s see how.

  4. Contrast • literally means “Set Apart” / “Stand out”. In a social feed plagued by sameness - Contrast helps you get noticed over other brands/individuals. Actionable • Content- Choose colors that are bright and complimentary in such a way as to make the design pop. More and more brands use identical looking type / layouts. Just by not using it-you can be sure to stand out. • Subject-Choose a subject that is in contrast to the competitors. Another way to look at this would be to create an overall content schedule that contrasts dramatically with what's going on in the industry. • Easy way to create Contrast in Design / Content is to search for similarities and make sure your Instagram post doesn't belong to the same family.

  5. Repetition It is deliberate to use the pattern / method to build an overall layer of trust , reliability and relation to your brand. Actionable • Look and Feel-Choose a visual style / language and stick to it. This is an ever-changing mechanism that needs to be controlled by emerging developments and communication strategies. • Language-How is the brand talking to its followers? What kind of words can you use to connect more deeply with your audience? • When done properly, Repeat will help promote a cohesive experience for your audience that fully understands your message and helps you achieve your goals.

  6. Alignment makes sure that all of your content / communication follows the same brand purpose. This helps you to take care of ad-hoc situations that always seem to pop-up.Eachand every social media platform requires the same information - when it comes to the Handle Name | Bio | Posts | Captions. However each platform has its own quirks and reasons why people like to hangout there. Here’s a fun analogy that used to trend way back. • Twitter – I’m drinking a #coffee • Facebook – I like coffee • Instagram – Here’s a vintage photo of my coffee • YouTube – Watch me drink my coffee • LinkedIn – My skills include drinking lots of coffee • Pinterest – Here’s how to make the perfect coffee • Snapchats - I am having a streak for 200+ days with my friend over coffee • You can understand how the same content needs to be repurposed based on platforms. Alignment is the single tool that can help you establish your brand across this multi-brand world.

  7. Proximity This is truly foundational. In design, the rule of proximity states that elements that are closer seem to be related. And those that are distant - become unrelated. Actionables • Emotions-Imagine using this with the kind of emotions you want to get in touch with your brand. Simply put, if I speak about positive stuff and create good emotions, then people will fit good with my brand. This must be the cornerstone of content creation. • People come to social media to interact, learn, encourage, entertain. This means that our content should serve this purpose.
