  1. External Ventricular Drain Top of cylinder Pressure Level Line Laser Light External Ear Canal • HOB elevated 30º, head midline • EVD cylinder height must be ordered • Align laser light to external ear canal • Position cylinder on measuring bar by sliding connector bracket to ordered height • Example: Order- “EVD at 11 cm above external ear canal” • Align EVD cylinder by sliding connector bracket to the 10cm mark on the • measuring bar. “Pressure Level Line” should be at 10cm H20 (right side of bar) • REPORT: • New drainage from surgical site, change in neuro status • No drainage into cylinder for > 1 hour, system disconnections • Drainage exceeds ordered limits, • Clamp when transporting patients to procedures or other • Units. dupdegraff@lpch.org
