System Overview Using Primavera (P3) as the Scheduling tool • Have a Project group with supporting project files: LCLS Project Group 6238 / 10705 • Project Management (SLAC) • Injector System (SLAC) • Linac System (SLAC) • Undulator System (SLAC) • X-Ray End Stations (SLAC) • X-Ray Transport (SLAC) • Conventional Facilities (SLAC) • General Contractor Summaries (SLAC) • Turner Construction Details (Turner) • SXR Instrument (ref. only SU/CFEL/HU)

System Overview Using Cobra as the Budgeting tool • Maintain separate Cobra project files for TEC and OPC funded effort. • The project also uses a web based tool called the “PMCS Hammer” that integrates Primavera, Cobra and Accounting data. • The PMCS Hammer” is located on the project Sharepoint and is available to anyone on the project team. • The “PMCS Hammer” is updated monthly following the month end cycle and provides team members a way of accessing/analyzing their data and writing their VARs.

  12. System Overview The PMCS Hammer provides both access to interactive tools and PMCS documents

  13. System Overview The Drilldown CPR provides Control Account Managers an interactive Cost Performance Report with drilldown capability and color coded variances to highlight where thresholds have been broken.

  14. System Overview By clicking on the hyperlink in the description field, CAMs are provided access to a name run report that will list all individuals charging their labor to the charge number within the control account.

  15. System Overview By clicking on the hyperlink in the ACWP field, CAMs are provided access to a cost report that will list all transactions charged to the charge number within the control account.

  16. System Overview By drilling down to the lowest level of the WBS, CAMs are provided access to a list of the schedule activities from the P3 file, baseline dates, current dates, status and original planned value.

  17. System Overview By clicking on the color coded SPI or CPI field, CAMs are provided access to a Variance Analysis Report form where they enter their Explanation, Impact and Corrective Action comments.

  18. System Overview The other interactive tool available to CAMs is the Detailed Cost Estimate (DCE). The DCE provides a list of the schedule activities, planned resources and remaining values based on status.

PMCS – Current Status LCLS/SLAC Project Management Control System: • Has been successfully implemented and maintained on the LUSI Project • Is currently being implemented on: • The PULSE Building 40 Renovation Project • The Research Support Building & Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project (RSB) • Will be implemented on: • The Matter in Extreme Conditions (MEC) Project • The Facility of Advanced Accelerator Experimental Tests (FACET) Project • With the reporting requirements established for ARRA funded projects, areas outside the LCLS Directorate have expressed interest in using the PMCS system to manage their project. • Electrical Substation Modernization Project • Seismic Upgrade Project • Infrastructure Modernization Project • Cyber Security Project
