An impressive nonprofit that serves at-risk youth and foster children and their families, Unity Care operates throughout northern California from its headquarters in San Jose, California. Since establishing its keystone-foster youth housing program in 1993, Unity Care has expanded in scope of services. The organization offers more than two dozen community-based initiatives in areas ranging from education and employment to mental and behavioral health. Unity Care is fully certified by the Council on Accreditation in recognition of its safe and respectful services, its focus on health and safety, its sound financial and operational practices, and its performance improvement systems. Unity Care operates under the direction of its founding chief executive officer, André Chapman, a former technology sales executive who holds a Master of Organization Management and a certificate of completion from the Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives on Non-Profit Management program. Over the years, he has earned recognition as an "Evelyn T. Robinson Outstanding African American Alumnus" from San Jose State University and a "Grand Hero" from Bob Dole and the Avanti Foundation Magic Ceremony.
