  1. 10 Step Guide To Safe Travels During Covid

  2. Looking to get away this summer to emerald-green pinnacles, hidden beaches, and cascading waterfalls? • These are just a few of the natural wonders in Hawaii.

  3. The legendary beauty of the islands is once more within reach for travelers from around the globe. • The state of Hawaii has relaxed the mandatory 10-day quarantine policy as of March 31st, 2021. • Travelers can get a Covid-19 testing in Hawaii and present proof of a negative test from a state-approved trusted testing partner instead.

  4. If you feel lucky and are packing your bags for Hawaii, let’s discuss what to buy for a safe travel experience. • Hopping on an airplane is far more complicated and different than ever before. • Not only will you need to leave much earlier than you usually would, but many of the comforts travelers are used to — lounges, restaurants, bars — may be closed. On the plane, prepare to eat what they offer!

  5. The general energy around flying is stressful: everyone is worried about maintaining a proper distance; anytime you hear a cough, everyone goes on high alert; and using the restroom can be scary, with many high-touch areas to navigate. • The stress can make the pleasure of air travel less exciting and more anxiety-driving.

  6. According to a few studies, airplanes aren’t the coronavirus hotbeds you might expect. • One from the US Department of Defense supports earlier research showing the ventilation systems on planes filter air efficiently and take out particles that could transmit viruses.

  7. However, this study was not peer-reviewed and doesn’t account for the transmission of the virus in other ways, such as other passengers coughing and breathing close to you. • While some science suggests flying isn’t a problem with appropriate precautions, we recommend these steps to lower the risk even further.

  8. Especially now since cases in the US surpassed 30 Million. • If you plan to travel to Hawaii, think carefully and critically about what you put in your carry-on. Not only do you want to keep yourself safe and comfortable, but you also want to prepare to not have as many goods at your fingertips at the airport.

  9. Coronavirus travel safety tips: Create a face shield. • A face shield is a great way to protect yourself. But if wearing an oversize, bulky plastic device for a few hours in a confined space feels like it will give you a headache, take Dr. Shojas’s advice.

  10. Dr. PanteaShoja, medical director at Urgent Care Hawaii, suggests wearing glasses along with your mask. • If you have perfect 20/20 vision, buy a cheap frame to provide an extra protective barrier. • Covid-19 may be communicated through droplets, so wearing glasses works.

  11. Masks, masks, and more face masks! • Facemasks are an absolute necessity. These can be either fabric or disposable. • It’s best to use a freshly washed or brand-new face mask every time.

  12. Headphones to pass the time. • Prepare to watch movies by packing your own headphones. The airlines may provide these, but if you bring your pair, you can be sure of the hygiene. • Remember, wearing headphones and a mask for extended periods can get uncomfortable on your ears.

  13. So make sure to try out different kinds of headphones to see which is most comfortable for you. • Big over-ear cans will go over your facemask’s ear loops, and buds can pop right into your ear, avoiding contact with any part of the mask. • If you want to watch movies on the seat-back screen, remember to bring headphones that will plug-in.

  14. Carry your travel blanket. • As soon as the plane reaches cruising altitude, the cabin pressure will normalize, and it will begin to feel cold. • Now, you may feel reluctant to use the airline blanket, or your airline may have stopped providing them to reduce the risk of contamination. Play it safe. Carry your travel blanket or scarf.

  15. Layers of gloves to avoid touching • A great way to avoid possible contamination is to wear layers of gloves at airports. Pack many pairs of disposable gloves for the journey. Wear a few layers of gloves, peeling them off as you move from one point to another.Removethe first pair after security, • The next after boarding, and then when you arrive at your seat.

  16. Fight dehydration with lip balms • Airplanes are dry places, and the dryness affects our moist mucus membranes. • By applying balm or cream, we protect some of that moisture to prevent breaking down one of our respiratory systems of immunity.

  17. Bring a water bottle to keep hydrated. • Water is essential and something you want to think about while flying. • Dr. Sara Davis from Urgent Care Hawaii says hydration supports the primary line of defense for the body. It is essential to keep our immune system strong

  18. When we don’t have enough water in our system, we lose the ability to fight back against bacteria. • Keep a water bottle handy, and those with a straw are even better since you don’t have to remove your mask to take a sip.

  19. Organize important papers • Soon health certifications may be part of the boarding process. • We recommend you carry proof you’ve conducted syndromic surveillance for 14 days and you’ve tested negative before flying. Becoming hyper-organized before a flight right now is essential.

  20. Wear lots of layers • Wearing layers is an easy way to stay warm while up in the air. Grab a sweatshirt and a super comfy outfit before the flight. • Since it will be less comfortable grabbing a last-minute item from an airport shop.

  21. Remember hand sanitizer or soap. • For over a year now, doctors have been saying -Wash your hands. Dr. Shoja says this practice is more effective than hand sanitizer and to prioritize during your travel day. • Anytime you come in contact with high-touch areas, ensure you properly scrub with soap.

  22. And if the airplane or airport is running low, you will be glad to have packed portable soap sheets. • Having extra hand sanitizer (with at least 60% alcohol, according to the CDC) is always a good idea too. • Last but not the least, Covid 19 testing Hawaii is easily available. Get yourself tested once you land for your own safety and protection of the community.
