  2. Consolidation and Virtualization Each of the applications has a dedicated server and storage. This is an inefficient system that draws more power and does little work other than maintaining the lines of demarcation. When you use virtualization, you provide a shared platform for all the servers and storage. Segregation occurs between operating units, users, data, and applications. running at any time. So, applications will run on virtual machines that improve use by reducing the number of servers running at any time.

  3. Improve the Efficiency of Power Supply of IT Equipment The Power Supply Unit (PSU) is the second biggest power consumer after the Central Processing Unit (CPU). The PSU takes up about 25% of the total power and converts alternating current supply to direct current supply. After this comes the point-of-load voltage regulators. This helps convert the direct current into the appropriate voltages needed for individual applications. Improvement in the efficiency of the server components will help in conserving power.

  4. Use 208V/230V Power Supply As per the global standardization, all IT equipment can work with input power ranging between 100V and 240 AC. You achieve higher efficiency at higher voltages. When you run the equipment at lower voltages, there is an increased loss of energy. You can save money by using the right equipment such as a good power cord. You gain an incremental advantage when you change the input power.

  5. DO AN ENERGY AUDIT OF THE CENTER It is true that the managers of the data centers do not know about th data consumption of the various components at their center. For this, one must perform an energy audit so one will have an accurate picture of the energy consumption and can take action. For instance, you should know how much power goes  to the IT systems and how much real IT output you get.

  6. Turn On Power Management of the CPU More than 50% of the power goes to the CPU. If we use a high-efficiency CPU, there is good energy saving. Dual- and Quad-core methods are improvin efficiencies and reducing the power needed for operations. We can achieve higher efficiency using simple methods like turning off idle IT devices and using UPS systems with high efficiency. Turning on the power management of the CPU helps in improving the efficiency of the CPU. You will need less power to run it and get the work done.
