What is an ecosystem? An ecosystem is formed when living and nonliving things interact in an environment. An ecosystem is a geographic area where plants, animals, and other organisms, as well as weather and landscapes, work together to form a bubble of life. There are many types of ecosystems. Ecosystem Example ::Tide pool A tide pool is a type of ecosystem. It has: • daily flooding and draining of seawater • water that is rich in nutrients • many different types of organisms
Ecosystem Example :: Deep sea This is a deep sea ecosystem. It is at the bottom of the ocean. It is so far underwater that no sunlight can reach it.
Ecosystem Example :: Temperate deciduous forest This is a temperate deciduous forest ecosystem. It has warm, wet summers and cold, wet winters.
