  1. What is XPS board insulation and why it is popular? ====================================================================== Expanded polystyrene is popularly known as XPS and it is used for insulation purposes, both in residential and industrial settings. This form of insulation is a closed-cell insulation board which is used commonly in remodelling and even in new constructions. The XPS insulation board is usually available in standard dimensions. They are available as square or rectangles but they can be cut in the desired size and shape. XPS rigid foam insulation This type of insulating foam is the extruded polystyrene foam and it is rigid in consistency. This rigid foam is also manufactured using polystyrene polymer. However the manufacturing is done using the extrusion process. Where can XPS rigid foam insulation be used? The rigid XPS thermal insulation board is used in domestic and commercial areas as follows: Decks, cavity walls, over truss or between rafters, underwalls, suspended ceiling, floors and balconies, and inverted roofs.

  2. Using extruded polystyrene foam for insulation offers much greater flexibility, thermal efficiency and compatibility. It can be used in all areas of a building envelope. There is a major scope of usage for the extruded polystyrene foam. This includes wall and ceiling insulation, refrigeration and cold rooms, under concrete slabs and even for hobby model making or architectural model making. To add to this XPS insulation board also has a perm rating of around 1 which makes it semipermeable. Even if you opt for thicker boards, they will be less permeable. However, even the thicker boards are considered to be vapour resistant and not a vapour barrier. Benefits and popularity of XPS foam insulation XPS thermal insulation board is very useful for insulation as seen above. It has many benefits and lowers the heating and cooling costs due to its strong insulating properties. It is versatile and environment friendly along with having a strong endurance capacity. It does not allow the growth of mould and mildew. There is no leakage in this type of insulation and this means that it is very efficient in providing insulation. Hence if you require insulation in your home, office or factory then XPS foam is the best option. It is more affordable compared to other forms of insulation and this is why it is very popular all over the world.
