  1. New “Memories” Widget in Google Photos for Users • Although the general version of Android 12 won’t be available until this autumn, we already see the results of the revamped widgets. Spotify is now working on a redesign of its music player widget, Chrome is currently testing a new fast action search widget, and now it’s time for Google Photos to do the same thing. • Earlier this month, we found and forced-enabled the new Photos widget on the Google homepage. According to the tipster, the update is already beginning to roll out to users using the app’s version 5.52.0.387241369 (APK Mirror). However, this is currently a server-side deployment, and it hasn’t yet hit any of our endpoints or devices.

  2. Telegram Source also confirmed the update • A Telegram group is known as Google Pixels also confirms the update and stated it as “the Your Memories widget has begun to roll out to certain Android users who are using the Google Photos app version 5.52.0.0387241369 or above”.

  3. What are Memories? • As a starting point, Memories are a series of automatically created picture albums that display at the top of the “Photos” page inside the Google Photos application. Android users will be able to show them on their home screens as a result of the new widget.

  4. Customize the size whenever you need • The Memories widget will be available via the widget selector. When you long press on the widget and drag it across the screen, it defaults to a 2by2 view, which is very narrow; however, you may increase or decrease the size by dragging the points that show when you long hold on the widget and drag it across the screen. • The widget will display a slideshow of auto-generated picture albums like the Memories carousel seen inside the Google Photos app. For the time being, the widget only displays Memories from “this week” and “a year ago.” However, this is expected to change as Google Photos adds support for additional kinds of Memories, such as “Best of Month,” “Trip Highlights,” “Celebrations,” and other special occasions, among other things.

  5. No need to launch the app • Because the widget displays everything that appears in the Photos app’s Memories grid, you’re likely to come across some fascinating images when browsing through it. Google’s categories for resurfacing old photos continue to grow, as we’ve been tracking them month after month over the last year. As a result, the next time you want to go back and look at all of your previous camping excursions, you may not even have to launch the app. • The Memories widget hasn’t been made widely available just yet. It wasn’t accessible on any of my phones that were running the most recent version of the Google Photos app. We’ll let you know as soon as this functionality becomes more generally available.

  6. How to get the update • The code for this new widget was discovered in Google Photos version 5.49 last month, and it is currently available for certain users in Google Photos version 5.52. Ensure that you have the most recent version by checking the Play Store or manually download it from APK Mirror, but this does not guarantee that you will get it quickly. That’s the problem with server-side rollouts, to be honest.https://communityfornorton.wordpress.com • https://v8webroot.wordpress.com
