  2. Who are Indigenous People? → The term indigenous peoples is used to describe any ethnic group of people who live in a place of which they are the earliest known inhabitants.

  3. Warm-up Questions • Have you ever met an indigenous person? • What do you think about Taiwanese aborigines? • Would you like to have been born an aborigine? • Have you ever visited a traditional village? • Name three things you feel is unfair towards Taiwanese aborigines in modern day society.

  4. Native Americans → Native Americans, also called American Indians, is a term used to describe the original inhabitants of North America. there are about 2 million Native Americans in the United States and 1 million in Canada, from around 150 different tribes.

  5. What is a totem pole? Totem poles are big sculptures carved from large trees, usually cedar by cultures of the Indigenous peoples of North America. Totem poles may tell legends, clan lineages, or important events. Some poles celebrate cultural beliefs, but others are mostly artistic presentations.
