  2. The User James is a 21 year old star running back on the football team at Stanford University. His favorite hobbies include reading, football, partying, and going to church.   Today (Saturday) James has to go to school at 9am for a make up midterm that he must pass in order to play in the Homecoming game tonight. If they win, Stanford will be the top team in the Pac-12, but if he doesn’t play, Stanford’s chances of winning are slim to none.

  3. The Device Steering Wheel Heart rate sensors on wheel Detect heart rate of driver as well as alcohol level and cardiac level in case of emergency Determines the excitement and alertness of the driver

  4. The Device Speakers Detects pitch, frequency, gender, and race of occupants in the car.

  5. The Device Dashboard Dashboard has a camera watching over the driver’s eyes to check if they’re falling asleep

  6. The Device Seats Car detects how many passengers are in the car by number of seats filled

  7. Brilliant Idea The NuCar Sound System allows for cars to automatically filter the best music playlist ready for any situation drivers and passengers find themselves in. Anytime you enter a car, the system has the proper music ready for your enjoyment and the enjoyment of any other passengers. This system bases its music playlist on four different components of the people in the car: heart rate, voice, visual, and number of occupancy.

  8. Before Class • When James heads to his make-up midterm, his nerves are running high, he is really sweaty, and he’s anxious for this test that determines if he’ll play tonight.

  9. Before Class The heart rate monitor on the wheel picks up his pulse and nervousness and plays soothing music to relax him on the way to his midterm.

  10. Pre-Game • Having passed his midterm, James is psyched to play in the game. As he leaves his classroom to drive to the locker room, he screams in excitement that he’s passed.

  11. Pre-Game The voice recognition recognizes the loud pitch in his voice. The camera notices the elated facial expressions. The heart rate monitor detects an excited pulse. All of those three things coupled together allows the system to play music to keep him pumped up. Let’s hear some Busta Rhymes!

  12. Post-Game • Exhausted after a victory and wanting to relax before going out to celebrate, James heads home after the game. His low pulse is monitored as well as his eyes by the camera in case he falls asleep.

  13. Post-Game • Victory music is put on but the hardcore playlist is ready just in case he shows signs of falling asleep, because tonight is going to be a long night. As people honk at his car congratulating him on his victory (similar to Remember the Titans) the music is lowered so that James is aware of what’s going on outside.

  14. Going to Party • James is about to head to an after party with 4 of his teammates. All of them have been drinking, but James is 21 and is BAL is less than .08. The weight of the people in the seats allows the car to detect how many people are in the car.

  15. Going to Party • With all of the yelling coupled with drunk partygoers, the pitch and frequency levels allow the system to detect how loud the people are. The camera on the dashboard also sees the excitement of the driver. Finally, the steering wheel detects an elevated heart rate. All of this coupled together leads the system to play a party playlist!

  16. Leaving the Party • After the party, the other three friends take a cab back while James drives back with a girl he met at the party. Music is very key here as the right song can set the right mood for a very entertaining night.

  17. Leaving the Party The steering wheel detects a low heart rate from James, showing that he’s really relaxed. The video makes sure he isn’t asleep. The voice recognition takes note that a female has entered the car based on her pitch and frequency. Finally, the backseats being empty lets the system know the only people in the car are James and another companion. Time for some Trey Songz! “empty seats”

  18. Sunday Church The next day, James is driving his family to church. His heartbeat is normal but not too excited, yet he’s ready to praise the lord. The voice recognition is aware of what people are in the car. There is a full car, so it’s safe to assume the whole family is in the car. Kirk Franklin is the main artist on this playlist.
