  2. Why Foldables? • An innovative and useful way to help your students learn and review scienceor other subject areas. • Spectacular for hands-on and visual learners. • Can be adjusted to meet the individual needs of your students, any subject, or grade level.

  3. Materials Needed • Scissors • Glue • Markers/ Colored Pencils • Colored paper (8 ½” x 11”) • Large colored paper (12” x 18”)

  5. Steps • Communicate • Sequence • Observation • Measurement • Infer, Predict, Draw Conclusions • Sort and Classify • Make a Model

  6. Step 1: Communicate General statements that can connect the student to the subject. Examples: I am an animal because I… My favorite lab was… My favorite weather is… If I could explore space, I would… I think it is important to study Earth because… My favorite Hiddenite (field trip) activity was… My favorite water activity is… What are some learned behaviors you have?

  7. Step 2: Sequence Sequencing of Events or Lists Examples: Places on Earth We Can Find Water 5 Properties of Minerals What makes soil a resource? Space Facts Gases that make up Earth’s atmosphere Types of Energy What is the general pattern of any animal life cycle? 3 Types of Symmetry

  8. Step 3: Observation • Using senses to connect to meaning. • Students can draw a picture and write a description or glue pictures to the description. • Helpful for LIKE terms. • Examples: • Amphibians/ Reptiles Types of Rocks • Vertebrates/ Invertebrates Layers of the Earth • Endoskeleton/ Exoskeleton Simple Machines • Layers of the Earth’s Atmosphere
