Addition Awards • VC Top Ups Students who are in the top 10 of the scholarship round and who receive an APA will automatically receive a VC Top Up. • DVC Top Ups • Faculty Top Ups Please advise us on the scholarship scoring form.
Timetable for 2010 Postgraduate Scholarship Round • Monday 31 August:Applications available from the web • Thursday 3 September:Students notified about Scholarship Information Sessions
Timetable for 2010 Postgraduate Scholarship Round cont. • Wednesday 30 September Closing date for new international students • Friday 9 October at 5pm: Closing Date for 2010 Round for all domestics & continuing international students • Friday 23 October: Applications to faculties for scoring & review for Institute awards
Timetable for 2010 Postgraduate Scholarship Round cont. • Monday 26 October to Friday 6 November: Faculty scoring Meetings to be held between this period • Monday 9 November: Faculty to return applications to the Research Students Centre • Monday 9 November to Friday 20 November: Institutes to consider scholarship applications • Monday 30 November: Special Research Degrees Committee meeting to consider all applications • Wednesday 9 December: Offers sent
Institute Requirements • Applications will be identified by the Faculties. • Faculties to tick the box on their Scholarship scoring spreadsheet if the application should be considered by an Institute. • Research Students Centre will forward identified applications to Institutes after 9 November • Institutes to return scoring and list of successful applicants by 20 November
Faculty Submission To RSC on 9 Nov • Faculty Assessment Spreadsheet with recommendations for Institute awards • Any arguments for Honours Equivalence and/or Incomplete Degree arguments • WRE & Indigenous Faculty Assessment forms • Any Institute Ranking nominations • Top Up Scholarship Offer Letters with any notes about eligibility e.g. must be Honours 1
How Do Students Apply? New Students • Online Admission form for new Domestic students. • FR Form is for international students who will commence a new degree in 2010. Current Students • QV Online Scholarships Form on the web (available from 31st August 2009).
Student Submission New Students • Original application with appropriate documentation attached • Referee Reports to be emailed directly to research.scholarships@qut.edu.au from each referee otherwise signed copy required • Original or certified copy of academic transcripts of complete and incomplete degrees from other institutions with a key. • QUT students’ academic transcripts will be printed by RSC staff

Scoring of Applications • Full undergraduate degree Score out of 3 • Honours or Honours Equivalence (eg. Research Masters, Coursework Masters, Incomplete PhD or Professional Doctorate) Score out of 6 • Faculty Score Score out of 6 Note: you can only use incremental scores (6, 5.75, 5.5 etc). Limits on the number of applicants scored for each incremental score applies to faculties.
Scoring of Applications Score Description 6 Honours 1, completed Research Masters, Timely-completed PhD Confirmation of Candidature 5 Honours 2A 5 Incomplete PhD - Confirmation Application completed ( - Not on-time, no extensions approved) 4 Incomplete PhD - Stage 2 completed 4 Completed Coursework Masters with >33% research component 3 Incomplete Research masters 3 Honours 2B, or completed Coursework Masters with <33% research component 2 Incomplete Coursework masters 1 4 Year degree or 3 year degree and diploma 0 Completed PhD
Honours Equivalence and Incomplete Degree Arguments • The Research Degrees Committee (RDC) will consider arguments from faculties for applicants for: • Honours Equivalence • Incomplete Degrees with recent and relevant research experience • Student’s MUST provide proof of their recent and relevant research experience in their application, for the arguments to be considered by RDC • Please use the Honours Equivalence and Incomplete Degree Arguments form. This will come with the Faculty Assessment Spreadsheet.
Process of Scoring • Faculties will score all applications regardless of whether they may receive an institute award. • Faculties to identify those applicants who may be within the Institute domains.
