  2. Where is our school located? Slovakia • member of the European union, United Nations and others international organizations Levoča • Eastern part of our country • 50 km south of border with Poland and in the vicinity of Tatra Mountains • 573 meters above sea level

Slovakia • History:Samo's Empire, Principalityof Nitra, Great Moravia and as part of Hungarian Kingdom),Kingdomof Hungary, the Austro-HungarianEmpireorHabsburgEmpire, and Czechoslovakia • Geography: Slovakia issituated in the middle of Europe • The most significantgeografical feature : Tatra mountains, with the highestpeak – Gerlachovksý štít (2655 meters)

Nine national parks • Hundreds of caves but only 15 are open to public • The total length of the rivers on Slovak territory is 49 774 kilometers • Lots of lakes ( both natural and artificial ) • Climate :warm summers and cold, cloudy and humid winters • Seasons : spring, summer, autumn, and winter

Levoča • Situated in north eastern Slovakia • Located in theLevoča Heights and on the theLevoča brook • Most famous historic sight :Roman Catholic Church of St. James (built inthe 14th century) • It houses a magnificently carved and painted wooden Gothic altar, the largest in Europe, (18.62 m in height), created by Master Paul around 1520 • Visited by Pope John Paul II on July 3, 1995 • Added to UNESCO World Heritage List on 28 June 2009 • The oldest written reference dates back to 1249

  9. School history • Schooling started on 5th April 1982 • Former capacity :660 students with 22 classes • Nowadays numbers: 27 classes and 495 students • Symbol of our school:

  10. Our typical school activities? • Learning a lots of new and interesting things • Visiting new places • Going for trips and to the theaters, cinemas, museums • Taking part at huge variety of competitions • Participating at various physical activities such as Swimming Skiing Hiking
