Automotive Ministry of Road Transport and Highways Legislative framework is built around the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, as supplemented by the rules and regulations of the CMVR (1989) and its amendments. CMV RULES 115, 116 AND 126 for Emission General consensus among industry players on moving towards European (i.e., UNECE) standards Ministry of Heavy Industries : National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRiP) Standards are crafted by the Automotive Research Institute of India (ARAI) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Automotive Industry Standards (AIS) and Indian Standards (IS) : Nearly 150 Indian standards for the automotive sector Industry Associations: SIAM, ACMA, ATMA Sector quite dear to Indian Industry, has emerged stronger from the recent global downturn, well-positioned for growth, servicing both domestic demand and increasingly export opp’y Action Plan Standardization status • Meeting with ARAI to strengthen work/regulations in line with 1958 & 1998 UNECE agreement and WP29. • MoU with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways • ARAI • BIS MoU to cover access to TC associated with Automotive Sector • TRANSPORT ENGINEERING DIVISION COUNCIL (TEDC) • Efforts to eliminate Technical Barriers to Trade in close cooperation with EU delegation office • Track/Join/subscribe to association SIAM, ACMA and Automotive Tyre Manufacturers' Association (ATMA) newsletters through MoU or Membership • Track and Update FTA action in India as Automotive is a sector of Priority
