  1. Shaping Shepherds Acts 20:25-38

  2. Shaping Shepherds • By His Example: • “I have shown you…the whole counsel of God” (Acts20:35, 26, 27, 31, 32; cf. Ezek 3:16-21) • “I have shown you…in every way” (Acts 20:33-35)

  3. Shaping Shepherds • By His Exhortation: • “Take heed – watch…yourselves” (Acts 20:28, 31; cf. Luke 21:34; 1 Tim 4:16) • “Take heed to…ALLthe flock” (Acts 20:28-30; cf. 1 Tim 1:3; 2 Tim 2:17-18)

  4. Shaping Shepherds • Three Things To Remember: • The flock belongs to Jesus (John 21:15-17). • Jesus shed His blood to secure the ownership of the flock (Acts 20:28). • Shepherds are accountable to the Holy Spirit (Acts 20:28).

  5. Shaping Shepherds • To the sheep: We can’t avoid danger by avoiding our shepherds (Heb 13:17). • To the shepherds: You cannot watch the sheep unless they can see you.

  6. 1 Peter 5:1-4 (NIV) – To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings & one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

  7. Forgiveness of Sin: Salvation! • Faith in Jesus Christ through the Gospel John 8:24; 20:30-31; Rom 1:16; 10:9-10; Mark 16:16; Heb 11:6 • Repent or turn from sins Luke 24:46-47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30-31 • Confess faith in Christ Matt 10:32-33; Acts 8:36-38; Rom 10:9-10 • Be baptized (immersed) in water Matt 28:19; Mk 16:16; Acts 2:38; Rom 6:3-4; 1 Pet 3:21 • Live in obedient faith Heb 5:8-9; 1 Peter 1:14; Rev 2:10
