The current Adani Group controversies are all about Adani Groupu2019s usage of offshore structures to invest millions of dollars in publicly traded stocks of its businesses. It lists the names of two private investors who are said to have purchased and sold the stocks on the Groupu2019s behalf. The Adani Group referred to the allegations as u201cmeritlessu201d and rejected them.

  1. Bengal Minister: Adani Group’s deep sea port construction project in Tajpur is “very much on track”

  2. State Industries Minister Shashi Panja stated on 26th November 2023 that the Bengal government and Adani Group were still negotiating with the Centre regarding the Tajpur deep sea port. Panja addressed the media at New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan at the India Industrial Trade Fair’s closing. There were rumours about the Adani Group’s involvement in the project after C.M. Mamata Banerjee told business people they could enter the port tender, which needed a Rs. 25,000 crore investment, during her speech at the Bengal Global Business Summit (B.G.B.S.).

The Tajpur port by the Adani Group is a flagship industrial project for the state Strategically significant for West Bengal, the Tajpur Project has prospects for increased employment, improved infrastructure, and economic diversification. Despite the ongoing Adani Group controversies, the government sees this project as a catalyst for industrial growth that will boost the local economy and establish West Bengal as an attractive location for investment and business. The government and the Adani Group will lay out the partnership parameters as the communications move forward.

The project is very much on track — Sashi Panja (West Bengal minister) On 26th November 2023, senior West Bengal minister Sashi Panja stated that negotiations with the Adani Group are currently in place amidst rumours regarding the future of the proposed Tajpur port. The state minister for industries, commerce, and enterprises responded to the opposition BJP’s assertion that the project is now uncertain because the Adani Group withdrew from it by saying that the opposition was making “false claims” without knowing anything about it. Despite the difficulties due to the Adani Group controversies, the proposed deep sea port at Tajpur is prepared for tenders. A provisional Letter of Intent (LoI) for the Tajpur Port project was given to the company.
