  2. Critical Success Factors • Strong leadership • Regular communication • Technology that worked for everyone • Functional team

  3. What worked • Majority of communication virtual • Good leadership • Good & fair distribution of tasks • ‘Stickability’ of team (only lost 2 members) • Realistic timeframe • Technology: Google Sites, Email & Skype

  4. Personally what I’ve learned is.. • Getting the question right is N.B. • Framework around doing a review (PRISMA) • Asking for help pays off • Screening process • Appreciation of time involved

  5. The question From this: Does what we do matter?Do the resources we provide - materials, reference services & educational offerings - make a difference to our customers - save lives, shorten length of stay, improve educational outcomes, increase research dollars, improve research results? To this: The value and impact of health library and information services on academic and clinical practice: a systematic review.

  6. Outcome (so far..) • Abstract accepted for MLA 2014. Presentation due for delivery May 19 & further dissemination. (Hospital Libraries Section, ‘Leading the way in assessing our value’)

  7. Concluding thoughts • Motivation may have been increased by sight of progress of other teams • Team may have benefited from being interdisciplinary in line with translational science outcomes of ‘team science’ • Get ideas to spread to other disciplines • Increase influence (reach out to different audience & readers) • Innovation, competitiveness • Funder requirements (EU, SFI) Further info: http://library.gwu.edu/collsci
