  1. LESSON #5: Stadium Personnel

  2. STAFFING • Any sports and entertainment event requires adequate staffing to prevent confusing or even potential chaos. • Over the years, there are many examples of crowds getting out of control at concerts, soccer matches and more • Soccer Riots • Egypt Riots

  3. USHERS • Ushers: responsible for making sure fans sit and stay in their assigned seats. Fans will move to better seats if they are available and there is no one to stop them. • They are always present at any large event. They help attendees find their seats in an orderly fashion so that everyone can be seated on time.

  4. USHERS (con’t). • Ushers also provide a second important function for event managers. They help ensure the integrity of the franchise’s product: SEATS!! • If customers are allowed to purchase the least expensive seats and move to the best seats, the best seats are essentially devalued, and no one will pay top dollar for them anymore. • Ushers prevent this type of seat switching.

  5. SECURITY • Security: responsible for the security and well being of the fans, stadium property and workers. • A shortage of security can lead to crowds becoming unruly. • They work to prevent fights, fans throwing objects on the field or at each other, etc. • Crowd control is critical to ensure the safety of fans as well as players, coaches, and officials.

  6. GROUNDSKEEPER • A groundskeeper is someone who maintains property grounds of substantial size like an athletic field. Proper field maintenance is very important, and improper maintenance can lead to player injuries and league fines.
