  4. United Way of Canada is a community of connected individuals, all people, united and working together for the benefit of all.

  5. Situation • Each year, United Ways rise upwards of $480 million. • In 2011, the United Way of Canada raised $4.9 million. • In 2008, United Way initiated a 10-year program • Improve education • Financial stability • Promote healthy lives

  6. WHY UNITED WAY NEEDS U • Their goals are ambitious, but ONLY with your help, they can achieve them. • Engage new Canadians • Diversity in volunteers

  7. COLLECT MORE VOLUNTEERS! WE NEED THE CAMPAIGN!!

  8. Audience • The 1700 international students of the University of Regina • International students come from over 70 countries. • The ages are almost between 17-25 • Chinese is the largest population

  10. Why International students join in? • Achieve the organization’s mission and value • United Way ensures accountability • It feels good to give!  • Working with the local people, feel belong to the community • Practicing English (ESL students) • Making more friends

Objectives • Inform 1700 international students know about the United Way • Totally attract 800 international students attend the presentation on February 1st, Oct 1st • Encourage 200 international students to donate to the United way • Encourage 300 international students to be the volunteer of Day of caring 3-7Jun,2013

Strategy • Using internal communication systems and on-site communication to promote the presentations to university students at the University of Regina • Influence Public Opinion by Engaging Formal and Informal Opinion Leaders • Use key messages to attract the audiences’ attentions Experience Canada Join United Way • Using media events to gain the students’ attentions

Tactics • Poster, Email before the presentations • Arranging two presentations on February 1st, Oct 1st • News items—advocating will be on school newspaper of UR. • Using University of Regina student email, Chinese twitter, facebook to invite the international students. • Inviting Winnia Zhang to be the Informal Opinion Leader and advisor. • Preparing a News release online on May 30,2013 • News conference in UR on May 31,2013 • Create a Blog for our program on website.

News ReleaseMay30,2013 International students join United Way Campaign Invitation Two hundreds international students from 15 countries will join in the volunteers of 16th Annual Day of caring week.
