Becoming an Prosthetist/Orthotist Four year bachelor’s degree in orthotics and prosthetics and one year residency per discipline or Four year degree in another subject and six months to one year degree in O&P and one year residency per discipline NOTE: Current O&P educational requirements may transition to a master’s-level program in the future.

Becoming an Prosthetist/Orthotist According to the American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA), the average salary for a non-certified, licensed orthotist/prosthetist is $56,040 (average of seven years experience). For an ABC-Certified orthotist/prosthetist, the average salary is $91,452 (average of 15 years experience). NOTE: Salary ranges may vary depending on geographic location.
