  7. 导师制下的课程 • The purpose of these courses is to allow students to pursue interests which are not represented in, or central to, established courses, subject to the availability of qualified staff. Students will engage in a programme of supervised reading and produce an extended piece of coursework . • Anyone interested in taking either of these courses should discuss the matter with a member of staff before enrolling. • Please note that in order to enrol for an independent study unit you must normally have: • (i) decided on a topic, and • (ii) obtained the agreement of a member of staff to supervise you.

  31. 考试形式 • 理解媒体(语言学领域) • Portfolio based on seminar tasks Term 1 (15%) plus mark for submitting weekly portfolio tasks by the deadlines (5%) plus essay (25%) plus exam (55%). • 语言与广告: • Poster presentation (25%) project essay (45%), exam on key concepts from the lectures/readings (30%)

  33. 论文 (Lancaster文学系为例) • 是整个课程的综合体现,也是每门课程的重要目标。最焦虑也是最有成就感的学习; • 二年级末开讲座谈选题,学生开始准备,6月22日前交开题计划书。暑假继续准备。 • 计划书可能退回重写,通过后在3年级第一周指定一位导师 • 论文的全部责任在学生,导师的角色是有限的,只提供方向性指导。一共四次指导:1)框架与计划;2)三千字初稿进程检查;3)个性化指导;4)论文的学术严谨性,写作质量等指导。

  34. 论文要求 • 选题的学科针对性强不要总想选择经典作品来写,但普通文本应具有同样的学术严谨性,不一定要以作者为基础,可以是“比较”、“主题”或“体裁”。 • 有文本细节分析和理论宽广视域 • 有一年时间的写作过程(导师把握) • 能反映学科当下争论的内容 • 可以有自己的文学创作 • 1万英文词 • 三年级4月25日交论文,持续将近一年时间。 • 对剽窃有严格的细节规定。

  35. 教师是一个团队(学科)的展现 • 教授、讲师、助教(博士生) • 教授可能不出现在课堂,但仍然是课程的灵魂 • 好的lecture可能来自博士生

  37. 学科是课程的灵魂 • 学科是由课程、研究和团队构成; • 学科团队是一个多层次的人员,包括本科生; • 学科包含不同活动:课堂、教师讨论会、研究项目、学术会议等等; • 学科是一种若隐若现的共识,是一个院系的特色,一群教师凝聚点的来源; • 学科建立在不同视角研究的对话点上。 绝不能把教学与研究分开来思考。
