  2. Introduction • Alexander • Very strong warrior • Powerful like the President of the United States • Ruled so many countries • When a country was captured by Alexander, they became part of Alexander’s big, big kingdom or empire

  5. Conquest for Aisa-Minor • Started in 334 B.C.E. • Led army of 30,000 infantry and 5,000 cavalry • Won battle • Captured loyalty of army • Captured Persian port cities • Closed them off to Persian ships • Got lots of money from battle

Conquest for Aisa-Minor • 333 B.C.E. • Faced off with King Darius III at Issus • Cavalry broke through Persian army • Darius runs away • Captured rest of Persian coast • 331 B.C.E. • Broke through into Mesopotamia • Faced off w/Darius one last time at Gaugamela • Won • Chased Darius and found him dead in 330 B.C.E. • 330 B.C.E. • Captured Persepolis • Took all the money in royal treasury • LOTS OF GOLD AND SILVER AND GEMS! • Burned Persepolis after a while for the dramatic effect of it

  8. Why Me? • I feel that kids learn about Alexander the Great sometime in their lives • Why not learn a little about him as a young kid? • Important to learn about ancient civilizations bits at a time • Therefore, it is good to start early with learning this information
