  7. A.C.H.I.E.V.M.E.N.T Appreciate, Community, Honor, Identity, Encouragement, Versatility, Motivation, Enthusiasm, Networking, Tolerance We believe that ACHIEVMENT represents the multiple aspects that we are attempt to produce through our programming model. With these aspects tied to the programming, health and safety, and conduct, the upmost productive community can be formed. As the ultimate goal of this program is to develop a cohesive campus community we will do so through offering intentional programming which will increase the mental health of our students while reducing student the prevalence of student conduct. We sincerely believe that there is a direct correlation, as shown through the literature review, and that when we focus on providing intentional programming opportunities geared towards broadening students social, educational, and political orientations they will engage in a spirit of campus cohesiveness and community. 8. Free Single Room The Pyramid of Prizes Ipod touch Because Foursquare is a Twitter application, students will also be able to see in Real Time which programs their friends are attending. Each tier the students reach represents a prize that they are eligible to win. 1 in 25 students at each level will win the prize. Students can track their own and other players’ progress on the Residential Life Facebook page through an interactive tiered pyramid system. Commuter Parking By the time the competition is over, Student Affairs staff will have the pleasure of rewarding faithful program attenders with the chance to win better and better prizes. Students must prove that they have attended approved campus programs to move up a tier on Facebook. The Facebook account will act as a hub to publish programming opportunities that count towards achieving the next tier. The RDEI will update this account daily Students will then use this password to “check in” to the program. Shadow President Kyle for a day On the Residential Life Facebook page, there will be a tiered gameboard where students can play a semester-long game where they track participation in on-campus programs. The Resident Director for Education and Involvement will be the person responsible for maintaining the Foursquare and Facebook account, including creating each event’s password. S/he will also determine which programs are included. On campus departments such as SGA, athletics, and R-Space can apply to have their programs included in the competition. Research shows that involved students are more invested in both their academics and campus community. Likewise, students who are invested in their community are less likely to violate community standards by breaking the Student Code of Conduct. Space in new on-campus apartment Prizes range from a $10 Starbucks gift card to the chance to win a free single room for the following school year. Lunch with administrator of choice The designated program coordinator will allow a one minute time frame for students to check into the program after it has begun. They will then receive their ladder point. The Dept. of Student Affairs has implemented a programming model whose focus is to build a strong and cohesive campus community Residential Life will grab students’ attention the day they move in by having them “like” the Residential Life webpage when they pick up their room key. The goal is to eventually make attending on-campus programs a popular choice for students. Students will also have a chance to expose themselves to many different on-campus organizations who are participating in the program. The hope is that this exposure will get students interested in becoming involved in not only attending on-campus events, but planning them as well. $75 of Radford Apparel from bookstore $50 RU Express for laundry and vending Each approved program will receive a one-time only password to give students that attend that particular program Free on-campus concert ticket Departments must contribute to a positive campus community to be involved in the competition by proving that their program promotes good mental health and results in a reduction of conduct violations. $30 towards posters in annual poster sale Students will be eligible to move up a tier when they have attended an approved on-campus program. They can only move up a tier once a week, so students must be involved in a program every week to to finish the game. This of course will be completely optional but the goal is to entice students by providing incentives for participation in the program. Students will receive their first incentive in the form of a pack of Smarties simply for “liking” the webpage. The deptartment will use Facebook and Foursquare as a tool to meet students on their own turf.
