  1. The Great Kapok TreeBy Lynne Cherry Sofia

  2. Summary I read a great book called The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. The setting takes place in the rainforest. It is about a tree that was home to many birds and animals but a man comes to chop it down. What happens next? The tree was so thick that the sweaty man fell asleep. After that all of the animals talked to him trying to convince the man not to chop it down. A little boy even comes into the story at one point.

  3. Text-To-Text Connection I will be making text-to-text connections with the books Our Tree Named Steve by Alan Zweible and The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. Our Tree Named Steve is about a famly that wanted to buy a house but they would have to cut down a bunch of trees so they could have room for the house. In The Great Kapok Tree a man comes to chop down the Kapok tree but the thick trunk is making the man fall asleep because it tires him out. In Our Tree Named Steve the famly decides to ceep Steve the tree. But one night a big storm comes and it nocks down Steve. Steve was very special to the kids so when they found out they where devestaded . In both stories the trees were special to the animals and kids.

  4. Text-toSelfconnection I just read a fantastic book called The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. It is about a Kapok tree that was home to many birds. In the story a bird comes up to the man and says, “We have flewn all over the rainforest and seen that once a tree is cut down an other is cut down it is very sad.”I have seen very interesting birds at Petsmart. Some were green and red, purple and yellow, and some even were all of those colors combined. I have also seen birds out side of Petsmart can you guess? …You’re right OUTSIDE! I have seen robens, blue jays, and much more different types of speecies. That is my connection.

  5. Text-To-World Hi I will be making my final connection which Is… text-to-world. Guess what there is 5 layers of trees in the rainforest. It is the emergent layer, canopy layer, under story, shrub, and forest floor. Also you get gum from trees can you belive it! And guess what in The Great Kapok Tree there is all 5 layers and you know how animals lived in the Kapok tree it’s the same in the rainforest. Also did you know that we get medicines from the rainforest? And rember how earler I was saying how the people come back for more trees that is the same in real life.

  6. I HOPE YOU ENJOYED MY STORY!
