  2. Firstly know what is ECT & TMS. ECT stands for Electroconvulsive Therapy and TMS stands for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy.

  3. Both are used to treat depression. Both treatments have proven to be effective but there is a significant difference in their procedures.

  4. Difference Between TMS & ECT TMS Therapy is conducted through the use of a coil placed lightly against the scalp of patients sitting in a reclining chair. On the other hand, ECT treatment is conducted with the use of electric currents which pass through a patient’s brain. 1.
