  6. Building Relationships in the HoM Meetings/Classrooms Please share a common challenge that you see students facing at Gavilan. It could be something that students experience in the classroom, office, library, etc. Anything that comes to mind. It only needs to be 2-3 sentences.  No stress.

  7. Building Relationships in the HoM Meetings/Classrooms “I am taking online classes, but the instructors often do not reply to our questions in a timely manner (within 3 days or so), if at all.”

  8. Building Relationships in the HoM Meetings/Classrooms “I bought a used copy of the textbook online and it still hasn't come, and it's the third week of class. I'm having trouble because we have homework and reading out of that book every class.”

  10. HoM: Out of the Gates Survey sent out to campus to identify core skills and practices of successful students. Sample Questions: Do you support a success themes idea? What do you think should be the appropriate spacing of themes? What are some themes you’d like to see highlighted? Please list at least 5.

  22. Event Day Dialoguing between faculty, staff, and students at event tables. Faculty sharing with one another student feedback and sharing their own thoughts/experiences. Creating strong sense of community through Inquiry and celebration. Promoting Habits of Mind

  25. Sharing Results and Debriefing Exposure to multiple student perspectives: what is known, not known, and what is desired/needed. Conversations between Faculty/Staff able to identify what they know, don’t know, and/or desire. Sharing information/feedback in multiple groups (e.g. Learning Council, Division Chair Meeting, Professional Development Day Committee, Title V Meeting, etc.)

  29. Campus Wheelchair Tour: How Do You Wheel?

Big Takeaways: “My eyes and heart were full of admiration for those for those who are in daily wheelchairs.” “I didn’t realize how what seemed like small cracks/elevations in walkway create such barriers.” “The condition of our facility sends a direct message to those in wheelchairs about how we do and do not value this community.”

  31. Suggestions: “Encourage board members to attend tours like this so that they may realize issues pertinent to people with disabilities.” “Create an advisory group whose members will consult during any redesign of campus and provide scheduled feedback of issues to our maintenance staff. Would also like feedback on accommodations in classes.”
