  4. Best conditions for creating a new program • Socioeconomicenvironment • Systemic opportunity • In house resources • Promoter’sleadership • Quality of the project • Support offers by the institution

Creation of a new undergraduate or graduate program Internal authority: • Board resolution of the concerned faculty • Conformity report from the Faculty of graduate and postdoctoral studies or from the General direction of Undergraduate programs • Report from the Academic programs committee • Approval by the Senate Time : between 6 and 12 months

Process of creation of a new undergraduate or graduate program • ExternalAssessessment of the quality • New Program Evaluation Commission of the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Québec Universities (CREPUQ) • Evaluationprincipalybased on the review of threeindependant experts • The Commission drafts a final quality report Time: Between 6 and 12 months

  7. New programRoles of the MESRST • Final approval : • Socioeconomic, sociocultural, systemic and institutional opportunity • Auhtorized Funding by Ministère de l’enseignement supérieur, de la recherche, de la science et de la technologie Time : between 3 and 6 months

Creation of a new « short » program • Restricted to internalapproval: • Boardresolution of the concernedfaculty • Conformity report from the Faculty of graduate and postdoctoral studies or from the General direction of Undergraduate programs • Report from a sub committee of the Academic program committee • Approval by the Senate Time : 1 month

Current program evaluationreview To assess the scientific, social, systemic and institutional pertinence Procedure • Production of a self-assessment report • Review of the program by twoexternal experts including a threedaysvisit • Report of the University Appraisal committee • Production of an Implementation plan by the dean • Approval by the Senate

  10. Quality assurance of current programs • Periodicevaluation:maximal cycle of tenyears • Audit conducted by the CREPUQ • Coordination with accreditation reviews

  11. Continued improvement • Program‘s evaluation by students • Program’s evaluation by teachers • Teaching assessment
