  2. Stop and Calm Down • Count and take a deep breath. • Choose what you’ll do to handle your anger.

  3. Tell the Person Why You’re Angry • Begin your statement with the word “I” instead of “you.” • “I feel angry when . . . • you do not listen to me.” • my classmates laugh at me.” • my friend hits me.”

  4. Leave for a While • Sometimes it’s best to walk away from an argument. • Ask the teacher for permission to leave the classroom.

  5. Relax – Calm Your Body.

  6. Talk to an Adult • For serious situations where you might get hurt, talk to an adult. • An adult can help you or tell you about services that can help you.
