SPOWG • Issues: • AFWA Shared Processing Product Tranistion Status • Sample Files for SNOW and Cloud Analysis from AFWA • SPP Partners Participation in SSMIS Cal/Val • Navy Access to NPP VIS, IR Radiances and Sounder Data • Recommendation to form Altimetry Research Panel • NPOESS Centrals’ TIM Results

The residual action items are summarized as follows: • 1) SPOWG 99-20: Open Direct Soundings ARP to determine resources needed for NESDIS to provide accurate temperature and moisture retrievals from sounder channels of SSMIS. • Action: NESDIS Due Date: TBD • Status: Open. NESDIS participating in SSMIS Cal/Val. • a. FNMOC is interested in assimilating profiles before attempting • direct radiance assimilation. • b. NCEP would like to evaluate radiances, resources permitting. • 2) SPOWG 00-12: Open Provide feedback on SPP Program Management Plan • including Configuration Management plan. • Action: NESDIS Due date: 29 Jun 01. • Status: NESDIS host teleconference for joint review.

  6. SPOWG • 3) SPOWG 00-10: Open. NESDIS needs a formal request of MODIS data • from users. • Action: NAVOCEANO Due: TBD • 4) SPOWG 01-07 Review Soundings ARP requirement & POPS Representation. • Action: NESDIS Due Date: TBD • 5) SPOWG 01-08 Implement operational capability for processing SSM/T-1, • SSM/T-2 Raw Satellite Data Records (RSDR) files. • Action: NESDIS Due Date: Mid-Feb Status: T-2 product is being testing / T-2 and T-1 is scheduled to be completed in mid-February • 6) SPOWG 01-09 Implement capability to process WWMCA Cloud Analysis • and SNOW data in GRIB format. • Action: NESDIS, FNMOC Due Date: 30 April 02

  7. SPOWG • New Actions • 1) SPOWG 01-10: Open. NEDIS will supply AFWA with requirements for • SSMIS RSDR. • Action: NESDIS Due: 15 Dec. 01 • 2) SPOWG 01-11 Open. AFWA will supply NESDIS with GPS code Version 3 • and the corresponding documentation. • Action: AFWA Due Date: Dec 01 • 3) SPOWG 01-12 Open. CNMOC will contact DISA about scheduling • Routing outages • Action: CNMOC Due Date: TBD • 4) SPOWG 01-13 Open. SPP will re-instate a secretary for taking minutes • and action items. • Action: All Due Date: Mar 02

Action: All Due: 30 Jan 02 6) SPOWG 01-15 Open. AFWA will determine the earliest possible date for routine transfer of non-operational Cloud Analysis product. Action: AFWA Due Date: Jan 02 7) SPOWG 01-16 Open. FNMOC will determine when sample date can be available to NESDIS. Action: FNMOC Due Date: Feb 02 8) SPOWG 01-17 Open.
