  2. Foundations of American Citizenship • In this unit we will talk about the following: • Citizenship • Roots of American Democracy (American Revolution, the creation of the Constitution) • The Bill of Rights and their involvement in your life • The citizen and the community

  4. The Individual and the law • In this unit we will learn about our legal rights and responsibilities. • You will learn about the sources of our laws, types of laws, and the American legal system • We will then break down both criminal and civil law and discuss how young people are treated differently in the court system.

The Economy and the Individual • This unit marks the beginning of our transition to Economics. • We will learn what Economics is, the fundamental economic problem, and how we make economic decisions. • IN this unit we will also discuss the American economy, and the characteristics of capitalism. • Demand and Supply will also be discussed.

  8. Economics continued… • We will look at the types of businesses and how labor unions can have a positive and negative impact on businesses. • This is where we will turn to look at the role of the government in our economy. • We will look at how we measure the growth or lack of growth of our economy. • We will also discuss the role of money in our economy and how the federal government regulates the money and banking industry. • http://www.federalreserve.gov/
