  3. How you prepare for Group Advising • Gather forms • View unofficial transcript on URSA • Update ISET Checklist • Meet with advisor - create a 4-year plan

  4. Where do you find the forms? • Pick up the forms at: • The ISET Office (McKee 227) or • Print from the ISET website www.unco.edu/iset(Forms) • ISET course checklist • 4-year plan worksheet • Graduation Requirements Worksheet

  5. Transfer Credits • These are listed by institution on your unofficial transcript • AP/IB credits • Contact Admissions {351-2881} if credits are not listed • A grade of ‘C’ or higher will transfer • Transfer grades do not calculate into UNC GPA

  6. Spring Registration Dates • Registration date URSA  Student tab • Determine Your Date to Register • Check your URSA account for ‘Holds’ • You will be unable to register with a ‘Hold’ on your account • Contact the appropriate office for questions regarding your specific ‘Hold’

  7. Update your ISET Graduation Requirements • Complete the ISET Graduation Requirements Form according to your unofficial transcript • ISET Graduation Requirements Form – www.unco.edu/iset --> Forms and resources  ISET Graduation Requirements Form For transfer credits put a ‘T’ for the semester you took the class

  8. Where are your classes located? • Carefullycheck the location of your classes • To ensure your classes are at UNC • Look for a building listed with room numbers • DO NOT registerfor any class with: LOWR, LOV or COSP location • DIST = Extended Studies • {additional tuition cost}

Course Information • In the Math concentration: • MATH 391 spring only class • In the Language Arts concentration • FILM 120 requires also registering for FILM 121 ART Concentration – contact connie.stewart@unco.edu regarding classes *PTEP program requires a ‘B’ or better in ENG 122 OR ENG 123

  11. Science Course Information • BIO 265 and SCI 265 and ESCI 265 • You must register for the Lecture(3-4 cr.) ~AND ~ • You must register for the Lab(0 cr.) **Submit both CRN numbers at the same time

ESL Information • TESL 101 required 0 cr. application • Packet is available on Blackboard or Hispanic Studies Office – Candelaria 0295 • Take with MAS 100 or MAS 275 • 1 full year of college level foreign language • Spanish is preferred • Take the Online Spanish Assessment • http://www.unco.edu/hispstds/span_placement_exam.html • Additional Questions? • Contact elizabeth.franklin@unco.edu

GPA is Very Important! • UNC 2.75 cumulative GPA needed for many PTEP prerequisite courses: • EDF 370, EDEL 350, PSY 347, EDSE 430, ART 444 • Junior year  3.0 cumulative GPA prerequisite for: • EDEL 445/446 Literacy Block • EDEL 450 Math and Social Studies Methods • EDEL 453/454 Student Teaching Block • To calculate your GPA  follow the directions on the GPA Prediction Worksheet

GPA Prerequisites • Transfer students do not have an UNC GPA until the end of the first semester • Please contact the professor; explain you are a transfer student and do not have a UNC GPA for these classes: • EDF 370, EDEL 350, PSY 347, EDSE 430 , TESL 370 and ART 444 • Request that they release you to register for their class • Professors will need your Bear# and the CRN# for the particular you wish to register for

  16. Grade ReplacementBest way to raise your GPA • May be applied toward a course for which you want to improve your grade • Contact Financial Aid regarding guidelines • Grade Replacement does affect COF Stipend • Information  www.unco.edu/registrar

  19. EDEL 350 • Prerequisite for the Literacy Practicum (EDEL 445 & 446) • 2.75 cumulative GPA required • Available Fall and Spring semesters only!

How to get your PIN • Attend Group Advising • Peel off name label (alphabetical by last name) • Go to ISET website www.unco.edu/iset • News and Events  ISET Group Advising Survey • Use PASSCODE from name label • Take ISET Group Advising survey • Submit • Write down PIN • Register on designated date (check on URSA)

  24. Final Notes • You can make an individual appointment after attending Group Advising if you have more questions or need to discuss issues privately • No PIN numbers are given in individual appointments
