  3. Kinds of Outcomes • Institutional • Departmental or major program outcomes • Course outcomes (course objectives)

  4. Institutional Outcomes • Wide Outcomes • For Example: • General Education • Graduation • Board Goals • Listed in the Master Plan

  5. Departmental or Major - Program Outcomes • General education requirements • Degree requirements • Certificate requirements

  6. Course Outcomes • Goals Expected of the Student at the End of the Course • Course Outlines • Course Objectives • Student Expectations

  7. Assessment Process Outcomes Indicators Evidence Criteria and/or Standards

  8. OUTCOMES • What indicates that student has achieved this? • What do students need to do this? • What do you need to see happening? • For Example: • Successful Transfer

  9. INDICATORS • Completion of courses with final • Evergreen has a department-wide final • Confidence in and outside of classes • Conduct research • GPA • Number of units • Communication • Critical thinking • Problem Solving

  10. EVIDENCE • Hard Evidence • Easier to collect (i.e. transfer count) • Soft Evidence • Harder to collect • Affective domain (needs to be systematic) • Qualitative vs. Quantitative • Qualitative • Problem Solving; Critical Thinking • Quantitative • Organized; Documentation; Descriptive
