  2. Basic Knowledge: • French cheese is very similar to American cheese. • There are over 400 types of French cheese. • Cheese is eating all over France. Two origins: They are further divided into cheeses from the farmhouse (fromagesfermiers) , or industrially manufactured cheeses. Three families of cheese:French cheeses can be divided into three main families: -Pressed Cheeses(like most British cheeses)- Soft Cheeses- Blue Cheeses to which can be added a number of hybrids or very individual cheeses.   3. Times when its appropriate: • French people eat cheese before their meals. • Cheese is as important to French people as wine is, and each region has its own varieties of cheese. French Cheese
