  1. Force and Motion(Rolling a Pencil Across the Carpet) By: Makeela Hawkins

  2. Definition of Force • Any push or pull that makes and object stop moving, start moving, speed up, slow down, or change direction.

  3. Force • The force applied in my experiment because I used my arms to throw the pencil across the carpet.

  4. Definition of Friction • A force between surfaces that slows objects down or stops them from moving.

  5. Friction • The friction applied in my experiment happened whenthe carpet and the pencil rubbed together and the friction between the objects made the pencilstop.

  6. Definition of Inertia • The tendency of an object to remain in motion or to stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force.

  7. Inertia • Inertia applied in my project because I used my arm to throw the pencil. If I didn’t use my arm to throw the pencil it wouldn’t have ever move.
