  1. Lauren’s Final Presentation CRE 101 June 27th, 2012

  2. Competencies • 5. Apply strategies to determine true fact (fact) to false fact (opinion). -Fact: “This issue is increasingly becoming a major political and security issue, as more and more people have access to an ever dwindling supply of fresh water.” -Opinion: “Certain extreme events that might result from global climate change.” • 14. Compare and contrast ideas from several readings (pro and con). -Pro: “There are many schools of thought that deal with the concept of water scarcity, each having unique perspectives and recommendations as to how to address the problem.” -Con: “People have also always worried about the adequacy of water resources.”

  3. Title • Water Everywhere by Jill Atkins.

  4. Introduction • “Water Everywhere” by Jill Atkins. • -On June 19, i read "Water Everywhere" by Jill Atkins. The book was written to inform the reader. While reading the book they was much information about water, which was great!!! "Water Everywhere" was a book about WATER! It talked about how water is crucial to our everyday life. It went through talking about the water process and what each step consisted of. It talked about how water is used for many things, animals and people! Throughout the book it gave facts about water and very descriptive pictures. The book was definitely informative. The book was mad for young readers, which is a great way to inform how water is important and an essential in our everyday lives!

  5. Issue • The ISSUE I tied into this book was CONSERVING WATER. • Questions: • How can we learn to conserve water? • How do YOU conserve and use water?

  6. Reasoning • I believe the reasoning of Kimberly Bradley writing “Energy Makes Things Happen” was to inform. The book was a picture book hence it was made for a younger age group to read and learn from! • Pro: “There are many schools of thought that deal with the concept of water scarcity, each having unique perspectives and recommendations as to how to address the problem.” • Con: “People have also always worried about the adequacy of water resources”.

  7. Conclusion • Water as we all know is really important. Water hydrates us, clean water to wash up with, and enable us with water so we can do so much with it!We have low water supply which many people don’t know about, but we can learn how to use it, in a good amount for everyday use. Most of us misuse and waste water without knowing it, we could fix that by “treasuring” our water and taking care of it. Doing and practicing easy tasks can help us and our water supply! • -Which has stronger conclusion? • -Is there a connection to the issue and your opinion supported by evidence?

  10. experience • The experience I had with reading to the Destination College students was great! Each day we had a different book, each day their personalities showed through more and more, each day their was a new lesson, new vocabulary, and each day was a new day I had with these 8 students! I learned a lot and I'm glad I was able to help them through their own College experience as they grew more!

  11. Thank you!
