  2. About the Teacher I am proud to say that this is my seventh year teaching at Rosenauer! I always strive to make learning fun and exciting every day in my classroom! I live in Ocean Township with my husband and 8 month old twin girls, Demiana and Juliette 

Independent Reading/ Book Nooks *We will have independent reading time for 20 minutes every day. *Each student will have a designated “Book Nook”spot in our classroom that will rotate each day. *During independent reading time, we will have one on one conferences and meet with small groups to assess their reading.

Math Topic 1- Understand Multiplication & Division of Whole Numbers Topic 2- Multiplication Facts- 0, 1, 2, 5, 9, 10 Topic 3- Multiplication Facts- 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 Topic 4- Use Multiplication to Divide- Division Facts Topic 5- Fluently Multiply and Divide within 100 Topic 6- Connect Area to Multiplication and Addition Topic 7- Represent and Interpret Data Topic 8- Use Properties and Strategies to Add and Subtract Topic 9- Fluently Add and Subtract Within 1,000

Math Continued… Topic 10- Multiply by Multiples of 10 Topic 11- Use Operations with Whole Numbers to Solve Problems Topic 12- Understand Fractions as Numbers Topic 13- Fraction Equivalence and Comparison Topic 14- Solve Time, Capacity, and Mass Problems Topic 15- Attributes of Two-Dimensional Shapes Topic 16- Solve Perimeter Problems *Tests ONLINE after each topic. You will need to log on to your child’s Pearson Realize account to view their scores. *See handout with instructions

  9. Fast Facts *We will be practicing our Fast Facts every day in our communicators. Our goal in third grade is to increase our fact fluency in addition and multiplication facts. *ONE MINUTE Timed Quiz every Friday on weekly facts. *Practice, Practice, and more Practice! *Flash cards from dollar store

  10. Forces and Interactions Ecosystems Life Cycle and Traits Weather and Climate * Students will be assessed by their Science notebooks and final projects. Science • Forces and Interactions • Heredity • Dynamic Ecosystems • Weather and Climate * Students will be assessed by their Science notebooks and final projects. *Donations from home for Design Challenges. S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)

  11. Social Studies • Government and the Democratic Process • Diversity and the Impact of Ideas and Inventions • United States Regions and Geography * Students will be assessed by their S.S. notebooks and final projects.

  12. Recess Weather permitting, we will have outside recess everyday. Coats must be worn during colder weather. Students may leave a sweatshirt or sweater in our closet. *Our room tends to get cold at times, so I highly suggest sending in a sweatshirt to wear in class.

  13. Homework Literacy: 15-20 minutes of reading book of choice and complete BINGO board each night. Weekend reading strongly encouraged! Math: Practice worksheet (highlighted items only) and review fast facts. *PLEASE CHECK PLANNERS TO VIEW HOMEWORK EACH NIGHT, AND BE SURE YOUR CHILD DOES HIS/HER NIGHTLY READING.

Ways to Help at Home *Ask your child about their day and what they learned *Check planners and homework nightly *Read with your child *Review spelling words *Make/buy flash cards to help with math facts *Check our Class Page weekly *Utilize the online math textbook *Let me know if your child is struggling in any way

  15. Grades 4 Point Scale 4- Exceeds Grade Level Standards 3- *Meets Grade Level Standards* (End of Year Goal) 2- Partially Meets Grade Level Standards 1- Below Grade Level Standards *Grades will be based on tests, quizzes, class work, homework, class projects, and participation.

  16. Top Banana! Each week one student will be our “Top Banana” for the week! When it is your child’s week, a Top Banana bag will be sent home the WEEK BEFORE with instructions to follow. Your child will bring back the bag with all of his/her items the following Monday. This is a great opportunity to get to know all of our classmates!

  17. Birthdays! Please drop off any treats with the receptionist the morning of your child’s birthday. They will be shared during lunch. *Birthday invitations cannot be handed out in class. An email list can be provided of parents who agree to share their information.

  18. Classroom Management Thank you for signing and returning our classroom behavior plan. Your children came up with our classroom rules, and I am confident they will be followed each day. *GOOD BEHAVIOR INCENTIVES *Stickers, erasers, pencils *Hershey Kisses/Starbursts to “Kiss Your Brain” *Good character awards *Good Work Gems

  19. Field Trips We are planning on going to Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant, NJ. Once the date and time is available, I will be sending home a letter and permission slip. Our hard working PTA has generously provided us with the funds for our trip. Parents are welcome to join us!

  20. Volunteer in our Classroom! Volunteers Please feel free to volunteer for future events on the sign up sheets in the back of the classroom. I will send a note home reminding you that you signed up closer to your sign up date!
