  3. 1916 - Great Britain occupied Palestine. 1917 - Balfour Declaration: Great Britain decided to promise part of Palestine to the European Zionists movement as a gift to build there state on. 1918 - Palestine became a British mandate colony. 1919 – the “Jaffa Revolution” initiated Palestinian resistance. Two more uprisings followed in 1929 & 1931-1936. Until 1948, 600,000 Zionist settlers immigrated to Palestine.

  4. Palestinian Land Crisis • Before 1948 Palestinians owned 87.5% of the total area of Palestine (26,323km²) Jews Owned 6.6% of total lands Remaining 5.9% classified as “State land”

  5. 1948Nakba: The Palestinian Catastrophe… The foundation of Israel on the ethnic cleanings of Palestinians. Over 531 villages were destroyed. 800,000 Palestinians are expelled out of a total population of 2,500,000.
