Ukrops Grocery Stores and Spring-Earth Compost Ukrops trucks produce that is not saleable to composting site Spring-Earth Company composts it in windrows Finished compost is sold in Ukrops stores and by Spring-Earth Company A portion of the profit is donated to the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay

    5. Brookview Farm: Organic Beef and Eggs Obtains collected leaves from Henrico County Composts leaves to spread on pastures No commercial fertilizers used

    6. Brookview Composting Operation Leaves composted in windrows in fields Formerly left to compost without turning piles Now windrows turned to facilitate composting process

    7. Hanover County Department of Solid Waste Management Hanover County landfill closed in 2004 County looks for ways to reduce yard and organic waste
