Different state of design (SOD) aircraft requires varying level of review (AMA 513.20, ACSI 23): “Accept” FAA STCs on US SOD aircraft (No Review) “Review” FAA STCs on non-US SOD aircraft Requirement to obtain additional approval for installation aspects that basic STC doesn’t cover No TCCA equivalent to FAA 337 Field Approval system used in these cases – have to use LSTC TCCA policy (ACSI 23) doesn’t adequately address complex FAA STCs with AMLs Avionics Workshop - Ottawa

TCCA policy discussion on how to accept: “high level” review of equipment and installation aspects No corresponding TCCA STC to be issued Airworthiness Notice (AN) to be published to indicate STC acceptance and need to seek TCCA approval on “extra” aspects Recent program: UPS STC SA1229SE(GPS WAAS – Integrated VHF/NavComm on 135 aircraft) Avionics Workshop - Ottawa

  7. Currently: AWM 513.02 does allow STCs with AMLs Policy and procedural (ACSI 22) material do not cover issuance of STCs with AMLs TCCA has issued some TCCA policy - Domestic STCs with AMLs Avionics Workshop - Ottawa

  8. Proposed: TCCA will allow STCs with AMLs TCCA procedural material to be revised Scope will be defined based on current and future FAA material Limited to small aircraft / rotorcraft initially Simple vs. complex differentiation TCCA policy - Domestic STCs with AMLs Avionics Workshop - Ottawa
