  3. Work-Study Definition Work-Study is an employment program for students who have demonstrated financial need. To be considered for a work-study award, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), demonstrate financial need, and maintain satisfactory academic progress. Students may earn up to the amount of their work-study awards each semester.

  4. Work-Study assignments • Work-Study is an attribute of the incumbent’s assignment that is displayed on the Incumbent Detail page. • Work-Study documents created in HRMS route to the Work-Study office for final approval. • At any given time, a Work-Study student can have only one Work-Study assignment to one position.

  5. Work-Study assignments • A Work-Study assignment receives partial pay from both a Work-Study account and a departmental account. • This shared funding only applies to hours worked on days within the Work-Study program dates. • Work-Study program dates vary by semester and Work-Study program and are found on the Hire a Longhorn website.

  6. Work-Study assignments • A Work-Study assignment may begin or end outside the Work-Study program dates, however the shared funding will not apply to those days outside the Work-Study program dates. • Hours worked outside the Work-Study program dates are funded 100% by the departmental account. • Example: Non-Academic Position with aWork-Study Assignment • Fall Semester begin and end dates: 8/1 – 1/15 • Fall Semester Work-Study program dates: 9/1 – 12/13 • Shared funding occurs only from 9/1 -12/13. • The department pays 100% of wages earned during 8/1- 8/31 and 12/14 -1/15.
