  2. There are three main types of national costumes in Slovenia : • Alpine, • Pannonian, • Mediterranean. ALPINE PANNONIAN MEDITERRANEAN

  3. ALPINE NATIONALCOSTUME Alpine type of nationalcostumewasexpanded in Gorenjska, part of Koroška, in Notranjska, inDolenjska, inŠtajerskaand in Primorska. Costume design was closest to the Central-Europecostumes. Due to the location, economic level and transport links this was the most developed type. • Men's costume consist of trousers, linen shirt with a deep chest and a vest(lajbč). • Women's costume is made ​​of white canvas shirt (ošpetelj), skirt reaching to the ankles and an apron.

  4. PANNONIAN NATIONALCOSTUME Pannonian type of national costume was worn in Bela Krajina, in the southeastern Dolenjska, in eastern Štajerska and Prekmurje. Becauseofthecolouroftheclothwecallthistype „White costume“. It‘s similar to theHungarian, Croatian, Czech, Slovak andsouthPolishnationalcostumes. • Men's costume consists of a long linen shirt (robača), vest (lajbec, pruslek)and long and wide linen trousers (Gače, bregeše), • Women's costumeis made of two parts. It’s made of sleeves, which stick to the folded linen skirt.

MEDITERRANEAN NATIONALCOSTUME Mediterranean type was present in Slovenian Istria, Brkini and some villages in the surroundings of Trieste andGorizia.Special features are seen in female attire. • Men's Costume Mediterranean style is similar to the Alpine, but trousers are much more loose. • Women's costumethe tunic with sleeves has some medieval features. Over the tunic women put two sleeveless long tunics (kamižotov), with the opening at the front (whole lenght).
