Wednesday’s Camera and sound workshop By Lexi Mikhaylova
Audio Microphone Handle XLR cable Wind Muff
Setting up the Audio • In the workshop we started by setting up the camera. • Then Matt taught us how to set up the audio. • We plugged the XLR cable into Audio 1 and the the other side of the cable into the mic. • Then we put the mic into the handle. • We use the handle as a separation from us and the microphone as it doesn’t impact the sound as much. • Then we put the wind muff over the mic. • If you point the mic at the sound it will pic up the sound better whereas if you just hold it the sound wont be as good.
Filming the short scene • We filmed a short scene in which two people walk in shake hands and have a short conversation. • We started by filming a wide shot of two people walking in and having a conversation. • We then did a wide shot of them walking in. • And then a close up of them shaking hands. • We then did over the shoulder shots from both sides. • During this we had to set up the shot each time by moving the tripod, bubbling the tripod, zooming in, focusing and then zooming out to our shot. • We also had to make sure we were following the 180 degree rule and not going to far past them especially on the over shoulder shots.
