Learn about George and Laura Bush, the former U.S. President and First Lady, and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the President of Indonesia. Discover interesting facts about them and find out what children would change if they were in their position. This project was done by Maria Vasquez and bilingual kindergarten students from PS/MS 4 in the Bronx, New York.

  1. Meeting Our Leader George Bush the United States President, Laura W. Bush the First Lady, and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the president of Indonesia. Facts about them, and something children would do like to change, if they were the president or a spouse of a president. Work done by Maria Vasquez and the Bilingual kindergarten students from PS/MS 4 in the Bronx, New York

  3. Denis Peña, 6 years old • George Bush needs to take care of this country and he is responsible for the economic and social aspects of this country. He was elected president on November 2000, and reelected on November 2004. He likes to be with his family. His wife, Laura Bush, works on social programs. If I were the First Lady I would work to create more business, give better breakfast for the kids at school, and create programs to help the poor families.

  4. Anderson Maurat, 6 years old • George Bush was elected by the USA citizens. He is in charge of leading this country. He loves to play golf. His wife is the first lady, Laura Bush, and she works for the young people. If I were a president of the US, I would improve the economy of this country.

  5. Hendry Pacheco, 6 years old • The duties of George Bush are: implement programs that help this society to be better, create a safety environment and source of jobs for all residents. George Bush is the 43rd President of the United States. The first lady, Laura Bush helps people who are sick. If I were a president I would help all people who have immigration problems.

  6. Chelsea Frias, 6 years old • George Bush’s parents are George Herbert Walker Bush (41st president of the United States), and Barbara Pierce Bush. When he was a child, he went to Sam Houston Elementary School in Midland, Texas. His favorite teacher was Coach Jones. His favorite subject in school was History. One of his responsibilities as a president is give to each child a complete education. If I were the spouse of a United States president I would help the poor people.

  7. Jasely Mora, 6 years old • George Bush has to make the most important decision of this country. One of his plans is to work together with all politicians and get the best for Americans. His childhood hero was Baseball legend Willie Mays. His wife, Laura Welch Bush has encourage different programs to help children, such as “Healthy Start, Grow Smart magazine.” If I were a president I would create more programs that help all the immigrant children.

  8. Robert Nuñez, 6 years old • George Bush is the commander of the armed force. He leads all officers of he USA. He and his family live in the White House. The White House is located in Washington, D.C. Just adult people could elected him. George Bush married Laura Welch Bush in 1977. She used to be a teacher and a librarian. She has set up a foundation to give monies to public schools for books for the students and teachers to use to help children to become better readers. If I were a president I would reduce taxes.

  9. Channairys Garcia, 6 years old • George Bush was governor of Texas. When he was a child, he participated in Cub Scouts. Before he became president of the United States he own an oil and gas business. One of his goals is strengthen the nation’s public school. He leads the program “No Child Left Behind”. He was born on July 6, 1946. His wife is always working close to him. If I were a spouse of a president I would help all businesses and make all people’s lives happy.

  10. Margaret De Leon, 6 years old • Laura Welch Bush is the US First Lady. She was born on November 4, 1946. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Gnagy, her second grade teacher. Her favorite subject is Reading. When she was a child, she loves to “teach” her dolls to read. Her favorite color is blue. If I were a spouse of a president I would create more parks and free and clean swimming pool for kids.

  11. Oscar Gatica, 6 years old • Laura Bush’s dream for children is that every child can learn to read. Her favorite ice cream is chocolate. In her leisure time she reads, garden and walk. She has twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara. She has two pets: a dog, Barney, and a cat, India. If I were the president of the United States I would give money to the schools to buy more computers.

A group of great students from Indonesia: Ayesha, Fajri, Inggita, Muhammad and Raden • The president of Indonesia is Susino Bambang Yudhoyono.he was elected through the general election for presidents. He was elected for 5 years. After he was elected he is living in his house or palace named “Istana Negara.” In his leisure time he likes to play golf or stay at home with his family. He has to sons. Mr. Bambang’s wife is Mrs. Ani. The vice-president of Indonesia is Muhammad Jusuf Kalla.
