  3. Why Am I a Teacher? • I’ve had many positive influences in my life: I feel responsible to share their lessons • I like to learn from people and share ideas • I have great patience and a knack for helping other people • I want to be a coach, mentor, role model to my students AND a spectator to their success • I want to explore the world of math – and I need YOUR HELP!

  4. What is My Teaching Philosophy? • I want to be more for my students than one who just teaches a subject. • I want my students to enjoy the subject I teach them and relate it to other things they enjoy in life. • Students will be stimulated in engaging academic subjects that will challenge them and excite them. • Students will listen to and learn from each other and work together to solve problems.

  5. What are the Classroom Rules? – Authoritative Approach • Be Respectful • Respect yourself, others, and your classroom. • Greet all guests politely. • Listen attentively, track the speaker, wait your turn. • Be Prepared • Be ready to learn when class begins. • Always pay attention to classroom discussions. • Be Productive • Help others. • Share ideas. • Be active participants in discussions.

  6. What are the Classroom Rules? – Managerial Approach • I strongly believe it is vital to establish a system of behavioral expectations and appropriate classroom procedures TOGETHER with the students. • Once the basic needs of my expectations are met, the students can create their own learning environment
