  2. AMDA

  4. AMDA Automated Mutiple Dataset Analysis Visualisation editor • Web based service • Transparent (automated) access to data  the user plays with parameters, not with files • AMDA local database (CLUSTER, ACE, THEMIS, GEOTAIL, WIND, …,STEREO,VEX, MEX, …, IMP-8, ISEE, … geomagnetic indices) • External databases (CDAWeb, CASSINI: MAPSKP+SKR, VEX-MAG,THEMIS/CESR, …) • Produces and exploits time-tables and catalogues Download data Parameter editor External data Conditional search Visual search Time-Table manager ! AMDA DOES NOT WORK FULLY WITH InternetExplorer and Safari AMDA is public (registred or guess users, at http://cdpp-amda.cesr.fr)

  5. VO: AMDA SPASE compliant VEX-MAG AMDA MAPSKP System SKR Local Database CDAWeb THEMIS Any databases including a SPASE based interoperability layer can be used by AMDA

  6. Using the resulting time-table Load Time-Table >>> >>> CL CAA Tools QSAS Time-Table Start Time – Stop Time – number Start Time – Stop Time – number Start Time – Stop Time – number Start Time – Stop Time – number …. CDAWeb SUPERDARN APL server MEDOC • Requirements: • A time-table format standard Collaboration CDPP/CAA/QSAS/CL: VOtable http://cdpp2.cesr.fr/twiki/bin/view/AMDA/AmdaTimeTableFormat • An interface for reading the standardised time-table • A web interface module for skipping from one time interval to another one And others …

  7. Using the time-table with CL

  8. Envisioned future development of AMDA Interoperability Layer AMDA portal Visualisation Visual-Search Parameter Computation Conditional Search External Data AMDA Parameter Builder Propagation Tool Coordinates, Locations, Physical Structure Tool Interoperability Layer Interoperability Layer Interoperability Layer Interoperability Layer Interoperability Layer • AMDA prototype development • AMDA (prototype) →AMDA-NG (“industrialised”) • Action funded and piloted by CNES • AMDA → Interoperable modules:

  9. Projets OV européens The CDPP is a founder member of and an active participant to the SPASE consortium VO projects: • EuroPLANET RI (FP7) → JRA-4/Task-2: “Interoperable Data Access” (Collaboration CDPP / VO-Paris) → SA/Plasma Node: (Collaboration CDPP / IWF-Graz) • HELIO (FP7) → WP-N3: “Strategy and Standards” → JRA: Propagation tool, feature recognition (Collaboration CDPP / VO-Paris / MEDOC) • VISPANET (ESA) → WP1200: “Technology Requirement Definition” → WP2000: “Architectural Design” • CDPP solicited in other projects (FP7)

  10. HELIO

  12. August 15, 2007 Messenger MEX ejecta VEX STEREO A and B Compressed solar wind shock Energetic particles Ulysses Around the Earth: ACE, WIND THEMIS, CLUSTER, GEOTAIL, …

  14. EUROPLANET RIIDIS(Integrated and Distributed Information Service) JRA: Tools for Transforming IDIS into a Planetary Virtual Observatory SA: Integrated and Distributed Information Services (IDIS)

  15. SA: Integrated and Distributed Information Services (IDIS) VEX observations: radial IMF A Higher escape rate ?

  23. User Requirements: technical translation Level 1: Searching, retrieving, accessing the resources • JRA-4/Task-2 • A datamodel (i.e. a structured standardised description of the resources), • low level but covering all the planetology fields • description up to the measurement type and granule levels • Protocols for request and access to the resources • A system: architecture, registries, protocols Level 2: After retrieval, exploiting the data for science analysis. • IDIS-SA + JRA-4/T3,T2 • Much more complex datamodel(s) (likely thematics specific) • Tools and services (reformating, visualisation, computation, …) Developing interface with other VOs (HELIO, IVOA) • IDIS-SA + (JRA-3 and JRA-4/T2)

  24. General philosophy: trying to use the existing standards, protocols and tools (PDS, IVOA, SPASE, …) From the resource provider side: • A major aim: • to publish resources in IDIS must remains as easy as possible, requiring a moderated effort for the data provider From the user side: • A major aim: • to implement access to IDIS must remains as easy as possible

  25. In course… • Development of a PDAP based prototype: level 1. • extension of the “essential metadata” for plasma • prototype registry/resource branch: • Now under study • First release scheduled for the upcoming IDIS meeting (27-29 January 2010) If successful, call for expert study for identifying the “essential metadata” in other disciplines Registry VOTables MAPSKP Request interface harvesting

  27. IMPEx 3DView (CNES/GFI) Observations + simulations SpacePlasmaExplorer OVT 3D Observations FP7 SPA.2010.2.1-03 Exploitation of science and exploration data
