  5. Tundra Biome • Characteristics: • Very cold • Snows everyday • Coldest and driest biome • Located in the Northern Hemisphere • Animals that live in this biome: • Arctic Fox • Caribou • Ermine • Grizzly Bear • Harlequin Duck • Musk Ox • Polar Bear • Snowy Owl

Desert Biome • Characteristics: • It is hot at day and cold at night • It reaches extreme temperatures either on day or at night • Animals that live in this biome: • Armadillo Lizard • Banded Gila Monster • Bobcat • Cactus Wren • Coyote • Desert Bighorn Sheep • Desert Kangaroo Rat • Desert Tortoise • Javelina • Cactus Ferruginoug Pygmy Owl • Sonoran Desert Toad • Sonoran Pronghorn Antelope • Thorny Devil

Marine/Aquatic Biome • Characteristics: • Large bodies of water that cover most of the Earths surface • It gets colder when its farther from the equator but gets hot when its close to the equator • This biome can be located in the oceans, Indian, Atlantic, Pacific • Animals that live in this biome: • Whales • Dolphins • Sharks • Seals • Walrus • star fish • Eel • Crabs • Jelly fish • Fresh and salt water fish

Polar Biome • Characteristics: • The polar ice caps are very similar to the arctic tundra in that many of the same organisms can be found in both the tundra and the ice caps • There is a smaller abundance of plants in the polar ice than in most other biomes, these include: Wildflowers, Arctic Poppies, Arctic Azaleas, Arctic Lupine, Mosses, Grasses, Lichens, and small shrubs like the Arctic Willow • During the summer, the sun is out all day for about three months. Then, during winter, the sun is barely seen between late October and mid-March • Animals that live in this biome: • Ermine • Arctic hareLemming • Arctic fox • Arctic ground squirrels • Polar bears • Penguins

  9. Temperate Forest Biome • Characteristics: • The temperate forest climate • varies in the time of year. In • summer its very hot but in • winter its extremely cold. • They can be located in Eastern • Asia Central and Western • Europe. • Animals that live in this biome: • insects • Spiders • wolves • Foxes • Bears • Coyotes • Bobcats • mountain lions • Eagles • Rabbits • Deer • Skunks • Squirrels • Racoons • moose • hummingbirds.

Grassland Biome • Characteristics: • Summers are warm and humid and in the winter, its cold but not to the extreme • 20˚in January and 70˚ in July • Grassland biomes can be found in the middle latitudes, in the interiors of continents • Animals that live in this biome: • American Bald Eagle • Badger • Bobcat • Bumble Bee • Coyote • Prairie Dog • Swift Fox
