  4. Today, we are learning . . . • How to predict what will happen based on what we already know. • How do these types of books usually go?

  5. I’m thinking . . . Did you see how . . . • Title and cover • How do these kinds of books usually go? Mr. Putter Books First, Mr. Putter and Tabby try to do something ordinary. Next, there is a problem with doing it. Then, something funny happens, sometimes with Tabby (or Zeke) Finally, there is a happy ending.

  6. Turn and Talk (or Stop and Jot) • Think about the story. What do you predict might happen in this story? • Turn to a partner.

  7. Now you try! (00:48) • During independent reading, be sure to stop and make predictions about your story. • Today, and everyday, be sure to re-read, look at pictures, and think about the story to build stamina.
