  1. Photosynthesis By Jaycie Arndt and Gus Schroth

  2. Raw Materials • CO2 = Carbon Dioxide = 1 Carbon + 2 Oxygen • H2O = Water = 2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen

  3. Step 1 • Carbon Dioxide enters the leaf through the stomata.

  4. Step 2 • Water enters the plant through the roots.

  5. Step 3 • Sunlight causes a chemical change.

  6. Step 4 • Plant produces food for itself. The food is glucose, also known as sugar

  7. Step 5 • Oxygen is released back into the atmosphere.

  8. Equation

  9. What the Equation Means C>OO H-O-H H-O-C-H OO C>OO H-O-H H-O-C-H OO C>OO H-O-H H-O-C-H OO C>OO H-O-H H-O-C-H OO C>OO H-O-H H-O-C-H OO C>OO H-O-H H-O-C-H OO 6 Carbon Dioxide Molecules mix with 6 Water Molecules which combines with light to equal food and 12 Oxygen molecules to be let back into the atmosphere. = Light

  10. The Process of Respiration

  11. Definition • When plants use the stored food for energy.

  12. Equation

  13. What the Equation Means OO H-O-C-H C>OO H-O-H OO H-O-C-H C>OO H-O-H OO H-O-C-H C>OO H-O-H OO H-O-C-H C>OO H-O-H OO H-O-C-H C>OO H-O-H OO H-O-C-H C>OO H-O-H = Light

  14. Parts of the Equation • C6H12O6 • Sugar, Glucose (food)

  15. Parts of the Equation • 6O2 Oxygen

  16. Parts of the Equation • 6CO2 Carbon Dioxide

  17. Parts of the Equation • 6H2O Water

  18. Parts of the Equation • Energy (ATP)
